SEND CPD Training

I’m sure we have all sat through a training session where we you felt had little use to you! It’s vital that Academies avoid the pitfall of completely irrelevant CPD, and use information from a SEND audit to make sure that training and development have the greatest possible impact on provision for SEND.

That is what we have done in order to create this section of the website. There are three levels (waves) of appropriate and up-to date CPD training which aims to develop a deeper understanding across SEND and empower staff to develop their future practice.

SEND CPD Training overview

This short video provides an overview of the SEND CPD model and the three waves of training.

SEND CPD Training Wave 1 (awareness - universal)

The CPD training in this section is aimed at all teaching staff across academies. This includes areas of learning such as: SEND Code of Practice, Core Progression Pathway (CPP) and an introduction to Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH).

SEND CPD Training Wave 2 (enhanced)

These CPD videos are dependant on the SEND needs at your academy and may be aimed at specific staff working with pupils with specific SEND needs (eg. ADHD). As an academy, you may decide that there are some videos that all staff should access.

SEND CPD Training Wave 3 (specialist)

Wave 3 training is more specific / specialist CPD that may be aimed at SENDCO's, Principals and Learning Managers. Again, at your academy it may be appropriate for other staff to gain knowledge in any of the topics covered.
