Week 1

Hey team

So the plan for us in PED2 is to continue on and turn in your term one work that you spent lots of time and effort working on. We have discussed between the teachers for PED2 and did not want you all to waste the time and effort you put into your biomechanics and methods and principles of training work. As such, we are going to work on these over the next week or two and turn them in. Once this is completed we will move onto a standard that looks at exploring the significance of physical activity (Which is really relevant right now for us all). The expectation for you guys is to be joining your PED2 teacher via a Google Meet video call at the same time that you have your 90 minute class timetabled. These will be accessible via your Google Classroom pages as you can see below in the screenshot. Note that you will only be able to access this Google Meet when your teacher is online and cannot re-join after. This will not be a 90 minute teaching session but more of a question and answer session with some small notes only. All of the learning material and learnig outcomes are posted in Term 2 learning guides that you can find as per usual. We expect to see everyone on the Google meet for their respective classes so please check your timetables and ensure you are ready to join the class Google Meet sessions on time.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the week

Look at the Google site Exemplar for ideas

  • I have completed three paragraphs (one per biomechanical principle) This should have been completed already
  • I have examples of at least two drills that I have/ could do for each type of practice for my skill You should have a few of these already. If you did not manage to get any training in then I would like to see you planning what you would do as the training sessions. We will take into consideration the fact that you are limited when marking these pieces of work around being able to complete them
  • I have explained why I have chosen to complete/ apply these types of practice for my skill improvement. Although you may not be able to complete the drills you can still explain why you used a fixed drill, distributed, mass ect...providing examples of what you would need to do.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the week

  • I have broken down the skill and split it into three parts (preperation phase, execution phase and follow through phase)
  • I have explained each of these phases usng biomechanical understandinding and anatomy
  • I have begun to provide feedback/ feed forward on the performance of the skill using biomechanical knowledge

By the end of the week

Look at the Google site Exemplar for ideas

  • I have completed both thinking hats documents for each of my methods of training (MOTS)
  • I have completed the first set of questions on MOT 1 and two POTS that I applied to this MOT

Question 1: Describe fully the first biophysical principles that you applied to your training

(You are looking to tell us what the method and two principles of training are. Explain these as if you were explaining to somebody who doesnt know them)

Question 2: Why have you chosen to use these?

(Look back at your yellow hat. This is where you need to justify why you have chosen this MOT and POTS for your training)

Question 3: How have you applied these to your training?

(This is where you need to give examples of where you did this MOT and POTS. Actual examples of the workout you did and what the principles of training looked like in this session)

By the end of the week

  • I have completed two weeks of training sessions
  • I have recorded down using the logs each of these sessions to reflect and support my evaluation
  • Made two assumptions about either the Methods(MOTS), Principles (POTS) or Sport pscychology that you had or have while completing your training plan. (This needs to be added in the box that says "Assumption 1;, "Assumption 2") Reminder that the assumption is something you think may happen but is not garunteed
