Step 1: Stop
If you notice that you are stuck in mud or any kind of ditch, immediately stop trying to move the vehicle.
You should not resolve this situation yourself. It is best for personal and vehicular safety to let a tow truck pull the vehicle out.
Step 2: Radio the Leader
As soon as you are able to, radio the Nightly Operations Leader to notify them of what has happened.
Take photos of your location and how you are stuck and Slack them to the NOL. This will assist Motor Pool in choosing what kind of truck is needed to help get you unstuck.
The Nightly Operations Leader will contact the Coordinator.
Step 3: Plan
If you have riders in the vehicle or in your itinerary, work with the Nightly Operations Leader to have another vehicle complete those rides and reassign them to other vehicles.
Step 4: Incident Report
Either the Driver or the Navigator needs to complete an incident report form. The link is below.
If there are so many details that it would be difficult to write the report on the iPad, report back to the SafeRide office to write the IR on the computer.
Step 5: Continue Service
If there are no issues with the vehicle after getting unstuck, radio the Nightly Operations Leader to have auto assign turned back on and continue service until your shift is over.
If there are any concerns with the vehicle continuing service, contact the Nightly Operations Leader to make a plan for how best to proceed.
