As of Jan 7, 2025, Meta announced a major overhaul of its content moderation policies, which includes ending its third-party fact-checking platform, lifting restrictions it has implemented over the past several years, and phasing political content back into feeds, all in response to criticism that it had helped spread political and health misinformation and in an effort to establish a positive relationship with the incoming Trump administration.
