4- Now it's the other player's turn to play.
Your job is to find 5 items in your home. It can be a toy, something you eat or something you wear. Look around!
What is your item? Can you sound out the first letter of the word?
Can you write the letter you hear? Try writing the letter a couple of times. I would like SK’s to write the uppercase and lowercase of their letter.

* To challenge your child, have them sound out all of the letters to spell out the name of your object.
Go outside and gather some natural materials. Break or cut longer pieces apart so they are easier to work with. Use the pieces to make letters, numbers or shapes. Can you make your name? Other shapes? The alphabet? A picture?
Alternate task: Find a good stick and make letters, numbers and shapes in the snow.
Here is a fun experiment to try! Watch a chemical reaction occur when baking soda and vinegar are mixed together!
Attached is the link for step by step instructions on how to do this experiment:

What are we learning?
Measurement:
Use a measuring cup to measure the baking soda, a tablespoon to measure the water, and count the drops of food colouring as you drop them into a bowl.
Colour identification:
Identify what colours are in the rainbow.
Science:
What is a chemical reaction? A chemical reaction is something that happens when two or more chemicals are mixed together. The chemicals create a new product. They create something new!
What colours can you mix together to create purple?
Materials: Slips of paper or post-its, a marker
Write a number, from one to 10 or 20, on each piece of paper. Stick the papers at different places randomly, around the house. Put them in places where the child is likely to find them. Set a timer for five or ten minutes and ask the child to search for all the 10 or 20 slips of paper. Each time he/she finds one, he or she reads the number on it aloud.
Materials: a blank paper, water color, tape, glitter
First cut some strips of tape and design some simple snowflakes on a blank piece of paper. Then the child uses the color of paints and brush or sponge to paint all over the paper. You can also add some glitter on the paper. After the paint dried, peeled off the tape and discovered the beautiful snowflakes you had created!
