This week some of our classmates celebrated Eid. We learned a little bit about Islam and some students shared their experiences about celebrating with their families. Eid Mubarak!
Here are some pictures of our learning this week!
In math, we are working on composing and decomposing numbers. Here are the students practicing a game which helps the them quickly recognize small numbers without having to count, a skill called "subitizing".
I (Ms Thornber) was very happy to return to class this week!
We are working on incorporating beginning sight words into our circle time and during play.
Ms Sydney led the students in lessons on beginning to add in math, and continued our phonics program. She also had lots of fun spring activities! Here are some pictures from the week.
Ms Sydney was with our class again this week, and here is a message from her about the fun activities she planned:
"This week we had a lot of fun learning about the letter W. We sang a song about it and practiced it ourselves. We also watched a short video about cartoon pirates exploring island W, where we learned all sorts of W words like Wombat and Wind. We then practiced writing those words on our whiteboards. We continued to learn about data management in math, we grouped the class by eye colour and found out how many students have blue eyes, brown eyes or green eyes and then graphed it. In our centers we had so much fun making bracelets and spelling our names on them, we built underwater habitats for sharks and whales. We also had an easter themed station where students looked for hidden eggs."
Thank you Ms Sydney!! :)
