The Dragonfly class has been busy reading and learning about the book “Ours brun, dis-moi ce que tu vois?” by Bill Martin. They have been practicing their colours and learning all the French words for the animals in the book. They have also been practicing the sentence starter “Je vois”. Our favourite animal was “la grenouille verte” so we decided to draw it!

As we have been reviewing les couleurs this week we have been hunting around our classroom and our school with our I SPY STICKS! We practice saying the name of the colour en français and then we hunt for them by tapping objects that we see and practicing the colour name as we tap. Then, we switch with a friend! We even had a colour dance party on Wednesday!
The tune to the song is "Head and Shoulders". We also added a new verse to our song!

When we talk about peace, we love to talk about teamwork and how we can share, be kind, and work well in a team. This week we are working in teams throughout our play times: using big paper to create team murals at the art centre and with our toys: animal figurines, lincoln logs and small world play.
We are working on extending and creating different types of patterns.

We have been focusing on peace and creating poppies with loose parts during play times this week
We loved playing with tweezers last week so we are continuing the fun this week! Fine motor practice helps us strengthen the muscles in our hand which is a great way to build our skills as writers. This week we are moving pompoms using tweezers (and also sorting and practicing our colours!) and cutting out pictures in recycled book flyers.

fine motor: building fine motor and grip strength by "hammering" in golf tees using a small wooden toy hammer into a pumpkin and twisting to pull them out

dramatic play: Tim Hortons!
art: making pumpkins using construction paper (cutting and gluing), pastel ghosts
Practice makes perfect! We are having fun reviewing our two songs about les couleurs and about l'automne (fall) this week.
