Digital Studio
Camilla Allen is a freshman in the Liberal Studies program, and works as the Radio Coordinator in the Digital Studio. She loves getting involved with anything creative, specifically drawing, fashion, and music. During high school she was a member of the stage crew and worked as a lighting designer for three years. As Radio Coordinator, she helps prepare students for their broadcasts and publicizes their broadcasts on social media. Multitalented, Camilla also helps students with audio-related and graphic design projects. During her time in the digital studio, Camilla hopes to get involved with more creative projects beyond the NYU campus and make new friendships. An avid traveler, Camilla hopes to visit all 7 wonders of the world, and she has already been able to tick the Colosseum and Machu Picchu off her list.
Office of Academic Support
Kristine Anyanechi is a PDO for the Office of Academic Support. She is a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences, double-majoring in Economics and Urban Design & Architecture Studies. She is deeply passionate about the social sciences, and enjoys reading about and “observing the different ways in which society functions, and how human beings come together to create different social practices and institutions.” Kristine also enjoys spending her time outdoors hiking and riding her bike, when the weather is nice. Last summer, Kristine interned in New York City at Blue Note Jazz Club, doing digital marketing, which equipped her with design, editing, and collaboration skills. These are abilities that she believes will help her make an impact during her time in the Office of Academic Support. During her time as a PDO, Kristine hopes to collaborate with her peers on interesting projects and become a valuable resource to other students who need help adjusting to life abroad. Though Kristine loves being outdoors, you can also find her inside, striking the keys, as she has been playing piano for 9 years!
Villa la Pietra
Ivy Chan is working in Villa La Pietra this semester. She is a junior in Steinhardt majoring in Media, Culture, and Communications. Ivy loves rock climbing and being outdoors. She also likes to take photos and work on her travel journal whenever she has the time. Back at the New York Campus, Ivy was Social Media Editor and Photo Editor for NYU’s student newspaper, Washington Square News, where she created content across various social media platforms and contributed to articles published in the WSN website. At Villa La Pietra, Ivy will be helping out with social media and giving tours of the Villa, and she can't wait to learn more about the Villa’s collections and share its unique stories with wider audiences, while connecting with other students who share a passion for the arts. Ivy is interested in finding future work in an art museum or media institution, so her time in the Villa will be especially helpful for her professional growth. Something about Ivy that would horrify a typical Italian is that she loves to dip her french fries into ice cream!
Villa la Pietra
Anna Detke is a PDO at Villa La Pietra. She is a history major at NYU’s College of Arts and Sciences, and is an avid film and TV buff who invites you all to recommend your favorite shows and movies. She also has a love for photography, and hopes to pursue it even further while in Florence. Previously, she worked as a lead teacher in a 3D printing and animation class for students aged 5-16 years, and she considers the presentation skills she learned to be very useful in understanding how to engage audiences on tours. Right now, she is working with archival material in the collection database, and is getting ready to start giving tours of the Villa and garden. Through this, she hopes to learn more about the intersection of history, art and education, and the role that museums play. Anna loves classics and every year she travels to Ireland to celebrate an annual James Joyce literary festival called Bloomsday based on the book Ulysses!
Office of Student Life
Dylan Henschen is studying Media, Culture, and Communication at Steinhardt and is working as a PDO for the Office of Student Life. He is passionate about many activities such as baking, reading, writing, and hanging out with his friends. He has worked for a newspaper in some capacity since he was 18! He has also had a few internships in communications and event-planning that have prepared him for his work with the OSL. His position entails working on the Villa Points program, social media posts, and digital orientation packet videos. Through this work, he hopes to improve his video editing skills, while collaborating with the PDOs across campus. He was also once featured in a Hallmark movie!
Office of Academic Support
Amelia Hauch Seguso is working as a PDO in the Office of Academic Support. She is a sophomore studying photography at Tisch, and she loves to take walks while exploring her environment to get any sort of inspiration she can. Besides photography, she also loves to read as a way to find some peace in everyday life. She enjoys her work on the E-board of the Italian Club at NYU in New York and being a member of the ISO magazine. Both opportunities have allowed her to grow as an artist and as a person, allowing her to feel in touch with her roots and create new connections. These opportunities have allowed her to develop skills such as communication, problem solving, and teamwork that she hopes to bring to her PDO position. During her time with the OAS, she hopes to learn as much as she can, network with people of other fields, and learn more about the people she is working with. Being Italian, she aspires to serve as a way for other students to navigate cultural differences and adjust to life abroad, here at NYU Florence. She loves to surprise people by showing off her hyperextended knees!
The Garden Office
Jay Kaufman, a freshman studying the Liberal Studies Core, currently works as PDO for the Garden Office. He spends most of his free time outside, and can be found doing anything from hiking, surfing, to biking in the park. If there’s fresh air, he’s there! His love for the outdoors has made him passionate about environmental conservation and plants. He has even spent a year working a conservation/watershed restoration job, while balancing guided backpacking trips in the rockies. In the Garden Office, he is working on getting more students involved in the Villa La Pietra Garden and getting the garden ready for the beautiful spring semester. He is also very excited about the website for the garden he is working on! During his time as PDO, he hopes to get the website up and running. He also hopes to educate people implement more informational stuff about the garden, while increasing student involvement in the space. An unexpected fact about this environment-passionate student is his participation in an accordion band for four years!
Villa la Pietra
Jeremy Lees is a part of the LIberal Studies Core at NYU and works as a PDO for Villa La Pietra. He is passionate about bananas (yes, really!) He also loves to swim, read, and enjoy nature wherever he may find it. He has spent time as a swim instructor which involved a lot of strong communication skill-building that he feels has prepared him for giving tours of the Villa, as he is now confident in his abilities to convey information to specific audiences. Aside from giving tours, Jeremy will also be helping with social media and research for the Villa. During his time as PDO, he hopes to learn more about the vast collection housed at the Villa and Florence in general. He also hopes to develop more relationships and accentuate his learning abilities in the classroom. In the spirit of Harold Acton, the art collector, Jeremy collects bucket hats.
Digital Studio
Amalia Mauceri is working with the Digital Studio as a PDO. She studies Photography and Imaging at Tisch. In her free time, she enjoys exploring and going on long walks with her headphones in and a camera around her neck. Besides photography, she thoroughly enjoys reading and creative writing. Overall, she is passionate about using all of her artistic hobbies as avenues for advocating change, progress, and political representation for diverse groups. She brings her talents as a member of the ISO Magazine, where she has developed invaluable skills related to graphic design and editing. It is very fulfilling for her to work as part of a team and have others to show and teach her new things about photography. Through her work as a PDO, she hopes to expand on her technical skills and foster collaboration with her peers. This semester, she will be assisting with photographic scanning and printing, as well as working alongside the social media team, Florence Underground Radio Station, and Baedeker Magazine staff. Unlike most students at NYU Florence, Amalia has Italian citizenship!
Digital Studio
Kiara Mujica is working as a PDO with the Digital Studio. She is studying Creative Advertising, Visual Media, and Social Psychology at Gallatin School of Individualized Study. In her free time, she loves to draw and paint. She also loves to crochet and finds herself binge-watching anything that was trending 5-6 months ago. In the past, she has worked as Social Media Intern for New York University and before that worked on Washington Square News as their illustration editor. As a PDO, she will be working on NYU Florence’s social media. Through this, she hopes to achieve a sense of fulfillment and for the social media pages to convey the true beauty of NYU Florence’s campus. Although she loves the beauty of Italy, back home she has three adorable dogs to miss!
Office of Student Life
Maya Wrona is a PDO in the Office of Student Life (OSL). She is a freshman in the Liberal Studies Core program, and is passionate about giving back to those in need through the club she has created here at NYU Florence, Voices Against Cancer. She loves to watch soccer and even played it herself back in high school. She is also an avid traveler, with her favourite country being Costa Rica. Last semester she volunteered at a local middle school teaching children English, which developed her organizational skills and her ability to work efficiently in unfamiliar settings. She is currently working on the Villa Points Program, which encourages students to engage with various on-campus activities, while also accumulating points to win fun prizes. This semester, she hopes to increase student participation and organize events that align with student interests. A spooky fact about Maya is that she was born on Friday the 13th!
Office of Academic Support
Maya Zervigon is a PDO for the Office of Academic Support. She is a sophomore at the Gallatin School of Individualized Study, concentrating in International Economics and Business. She is passionate about everything related to writing or reading. In her free time, you can find her reading anything that has to do with historical women, fashion, or a fiction novel with a crazy plot. Back in her home state of New Jersey, she has done a lot of volunteer work with her favorite organization, Chances Community Center in Newark. She also is Treasurer for the Fashion Business Association, which began her love for working with the NYU community. During her time as a PDO, she hopes to learn more about the NYU Florence community and explore more collaborative work. Back in New Jersey, she has a Pitbull named Larry, but her favorite dog breed is Shar Pei.
Digital Studio
Jeanelle Zhou is a PDO in the Digital Studio, and is a double-major, studying Finance at Stern and Journalism in the College of Arts and Sciences. She loves to get involved with anything crafty, “but mostly sewing, embroidery, wax seal stamps, junk journaling, paper crafts, and wood burning.” In the Digital Studio, Jeanelle is working on NYU Florence social media, the Baedeker travel magazine, and other miscellaneous design projects. During her time in Florence, she hopes to meet new people and improve her Creative Cloud technical abilities. And although she is a busy double-major, that didn't stop her from seeing 28 artists live last year!
