5.3.3 Holiday Dates
The District Director of Health and/or her/his designee will determine the dates NKY Health will observe each holiday.
Normally when a holiday falls on a Saturday, NKY Health will observe it the Friday before and when a holiday falls on a Sunday, NKY Health will observe it the Monday after.
(See the Holidays page of the HR Site for Employees for specific dates holidays will be observed at NKY Health.)
5.3.4 Working On a Holiday
An exempt or non-exempt employee who works on a designated holiday may take an equal amount of time off up to eight (8) hours to be charged to holiday at a later date within the same fiscal year provided that her/his supervisor, supervisor’s designee or a higher authority in the chain-of-command pre-approves the employee to work on the holiday and pre-approves the time off. NKY Health mobilization team is always pre-approved.
A non-exempt employee required by her/his supervisor to work on a designated holiday may elect pay at twice her/his normal rate for up to eight (8) hours of time required to work on a holiday in lieu of taking time off.
5.3.5 Holidays and Part-Time Employees
A part time merit system employee is approved for unpaid leave when normally scheduled to work on a day when NKY Health is closed for a holiday.
Alternatively, the employee may substitute her/his accumulated annual leave for the unpaid leave or may flex her/his time within the pay period to work the usual number of hours with prior approval from her/his supervisor.
