The human body is composed of matter, which is a substance that has mass and occupies space, which is present in three forms in the body: solid, liquid, and gas. Through this all, matter is composed of atoms, which is the smallest unit of an element. Within the human body there is 99% of our body's weight that are major elements and 1% that are minor elements. In turn, the chemical makeup of the body builds upon the anatomy and physiology of the body's structure.
How Does Chemistry Relate to Anatomy?
The human body, simply, is composed of chemical structures that include atoms, ions, and molecules. There are many forms of anatomy that can also be broken down into chemistry based fields. Examples of this include microscopic anatomy, which means looking at structures that cannot be seen with the unaided eye, such as a cell. Another branch of anatomy is gross anatomy which focuses on structures and the relationships of body parts that are visible to the unaided eye. Through the chemistry of anatomy, scientists are able to research how the body functions in correlation of the chemistry that makes up the body function.
How Does Chemistry Relate to Physiology?
Physiology is the function of the body parts. This is through examining the function of various organ systems while also focusing on the molecular or cellular level of the system. Therefore, understanding of chemistry and the cell is essential for understanding physiology. Like anatomy, physiology is also broken down into smaller sections of the body system.
