Orchestra

7th grade

Mr. Taylor is the new orchestra teacher here at Springville Junior High and many love him. For the 7th graders, they had their first concert and Mr. Taylor said it was the best concert he had ever conducted.

8th grade

The 8th graders preformed on February 6th and are going to the Nebo District JH Orchestra Assessment Festival on Thursday the 8th.

9th grade

8 members from the 9th grade orchestra were able to participate in the Nebo District JH Honor Orchestra Festival at Maple Mtn. in January. All of them sounded amazing.

BAnd

7th grade

Mr. Booth has been the band teacher for many years now at Springville Junior High and he is loved by all his students. Their second concert for every grade is on May 16th. The 7th graders have been learning Much Mariachi, Stonehenge, Aztalan, and I Want To Hold Your Hand by the Beatles.

8th grade

For the 8th grade their songs are, We Know the Way from Moana, Party Rock, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, and Sweet Caroline.

9th grade

The 9th graders have been preparing for the District Band Festival and are prepared to destroy the competition. They are learning, The Pit and The Pendulum, Shackelford Banks, Down By the Salley Gardens, an Irish piece, and Stevie Wonder Superstition.

Jazz Band

Jazz is learning, All Blues, Billie Jean, and the Charlie Brown Theme Song. The Jazz Band just started so they don't have as many songs.

art

Foundations 1

In art foundations 1 the students have been learning about value and drawing forms, different color schemes, creating patterns, and a watercolor zentangle. The pictures shown above are zentangle.

Foundations 1B

In art foundations 1B they have been learning about value, drawing with 2 point perspective, and creating interesting zentangles.

Drawing

In drawing the focus has been on how to draw from life, value, and drawing animals.

Photography

What the photography class has been working on this term is what makes a good image, how to apply light, Rule of 3rds, and different angles to create an interesting composition.

Choir

In choir they sang at Abravnel Hall on January 27. They also just sang for the 6th grades, this past week. The school had the play, which isn't a official choir thing, but many of the choir students were involved in it.

Drama

They wrote their first duo scenes, which turned out amazing and spectacular. They practiced characters by playing several drama games, putting their characters into different situations, and acting them out. And they are now starting their voice unit where they are doing their Phineas and Ferb voice overs.
