History

The students at Springville Junior High have been learning tons of things in Term two in their History classes. the Seventh graders have been learning about Utah history and what happened to create this wonderful safe haven. In Eighth grade the students are learning about the Revolution and the way that America was created. Ninth graders are happy to be learning more about the world and who did what and when they did it.

Mrs. Hatch, a history teacher for seventh and eighth grade, gave a short summary of what all of the seventh graders are doing in history. She starts by saying, "In brief, we have covered Native Americans, Exploration, and Mountain Men." She then continues to explain that they also learned about "Mormon Migration and Manifest Destiny." "Conflict in the Utah Territory and Utah's struggle for statehood," are the last things the seventh graders have learned. The seventh graders have been hard at work on finding out more about this lovely state we live in.

In Eighth grade History the students are going over the History of the United States of America. Mrs. Porter, a seventh and eighth grade teacher, said, "For the second term in U.S. History, we talked about life in the thirteen colonies, and the causes of the Revolutionary War." She goes on to talk about how the eighth graders discussed the Revolutionary War itself and they have started to discuss the Constitution. The Eighth graders have learned a great many things about the struggles of the birth of the country we all live in.

Ninth grade is a little bit different where the first semester is Geography and the second one is World Civilizations. During term two they finished up the continents and countries unit, next they moved on to world religions. As of Amanda Gardner, a student in Ms. Reese's 7th period class, they have had guest speakers come and talk to them about their religion and theism.

In Term Two the students of Springville Junior High have been learning things that will be very essential in their understanding of how the world works. The students have been trying to understand why things are the way they are, such as in the case of why the French did not want to help the Colonies in the Revolutionary War. While the students have been learning in their classes, the teachers have been trying hard to provide a fun and positive learning experience throughout the year.
