Topic - We will be talking about what we would like to be when we grow up. It will be interesting to look at old answers of the same questions when we did “People who help us” and compare them to what we want to be now. Have we changed our minds? And why?
Phonics - As we have completed our Phonics for the year we will be playing lots of phonics games to reinforce our learning. We will also be focusing on recognising the initial sound in words and try to blend the Phonics sounds together to make words. Let’s see who can try and write and copy some of those sounds!
Literacy - We will be answering questions like: I want to be a...because… I like the…. Because…. I think a….. Is…… We are going to draw our own picture of what we would like to be when we grow up and try and copy a word that matched the picture. We will be working on the Interactive Whiteboard creating what our job uniform will look like as well as listen to stories about those jobs.
Maths - In Maths, we will be looking at matching numbers with a set. The children will count out objects and afterward look at numbers. They will pick the correct number that matches the amount they counted out in the set.
Gross/Fine Motor Skills - We are going to use our gross motor and do different actions
Like using scissors to cut out picture with more control and precision. We will use manipulate playdough to create flowers and play “Secret Garden” where they will be moving in different ways on the beat of music.
Topic - We will be looking at some baby pictures of ourselves and discuss how we have grown, what features have changed, what can we do now we could not do when we were little. We will also be talking about why we want to go to F2.
Phonics - As it will be assessment week we will be focusing on recognising all the sounds we have learned this year by playing fun phonics games and also see if we can use those sounds to blend/segment.
Literacy - We will listen and discuss the story of “Topsy and Tim start school” and what things we are going to learn when we go to F2. We will talk about our school experiences and see how well we can explain our daily routine.
Maths - As it will be assessment week we will be focusing on recognising all the numbers we have learned, count up to as far as we can, order numbers and match the number to the amount. We will also be looking at the size of objects and order them from big to small.
Gross/Fine Motor Skills - We are going to use our gross motor and do different actions from when we were small like wiggle, crawl, walk, run, climb, balance and dodge.
To develop our fine motor we are going to use scissors to cut out facial features and assemble a picture of a face, use snap cubes to build a tower just as big as us and use buttons to make patterns.
Topic - We will introduce the story of "The ugly duckling" and talk about the feelings the duckling felt through the story. They will have a change to cut out different parts of a duck and build it all together.
Phonics - We will revise all sounds. Apart from Jolly Phonics sound and actions we will be playing attention to the formation of our phonics sounds. Using chalk, whiteboard markers and playground. Literacy - Our story of the week is "The ugly duckling". As it is a new story we will only read the beginning and middle of the story. The children will have a chance to guess the ending of the story and draw their own ending. We will tell our ending to our friends and pick the one that is a good ending. After that we will listening to the story's ending and compare to the ones we guessed.
Maths - We will be counting out objects to 10 and explore with things that float and sink.
Gross/Fine Motor Skills - We will use our fine motor skills to decorate a duck, use different materials to create a duck nest and use pompoms to make a family of ducks. We will also play an all time favourite game called "Duck, duck, goose".
Topic - We will be using a template of a "Gingerbread man" and mixing our own salt dough to create a gingerbread man mold. We will use different art materials to decorate the mold.

Ordering numbers can be done on different levels and we will focus on recognising numerals and putting them in the correct order independently before mixing up the numbers and they have to find the correct place where the numbers belong. Topic - For a starter we are going to discuss all the aspects that goes into shopping, from who goes with us, what we use to why we are buying the things while we are shopping. Teachers will set up shop in the hall and each class will have a chance to go and do their “shopping”. Each child will get “money” to buy items by looking at the cost and working out how many notes they have to give.
