This week we will be starting a new topic -Animals! Our first week will focus on Minibeasts.
In Literacy, we will be reading the story of 'The Grouchy Ladybug'. (Please see video below). We will be mixing up sentences and helping the children to rearrange them in the correct order. They will then read the sentences.
In Mathematics, we will be going on a minibeast hunt around our garden using magnifying glasses. The children will be taught how to record their findings in a way that they can interpret.
In Phonics, we will continue learning diagraphs and the tricky words for this week will be 'there' and 'they'.
In Guided Reading, the children will be reading a new book in school this week and will bring it home on Wednesday. Please remember to write in your child's Reading Record Book every time you listen to them read from Wednesday - Sunday. Also, writing comments about how well they did and what they needed support with is very helpful to the teachers!

Book Week was a huge success! The children enjoyed many activities including making front covers of books, bookmarks and watching a puppet show of the story 'The Snail and the Whale'.

In Mathematics, everybody practiced ordering numbers from 0-10 and beyond by pegging small numbered fish on washing line.
Finally, our Ocean Clean Up day was a huge success. Thank you so much to all the parent helpers. The children had a lot of fun and learnt alot about our oceans and how to save them!

Road safety day was a huge success. All the children really enjoyed learning about how to be safe on the roads, both in a car and as a pedestrian. We hope they can put their knowledge to practical use outside of school. Don’t forget to fasten those seatbelts every time you are in the car!

On Sunday 11th November (PEARL) and Tuesday 13th November (ORYX) we will be holding an Ocean Clean Up Day as part of our topic 'Under the Sea'. The children are learning about recycling as part of the topic and will take part in activities on Sunday to help 'clean up' our 'oceans'. We will be using small paddling pools in our school garden, filling them with water and recyclable materials and the children will sort them into different containers.
