Bonjour, je m'appelle Jocelyne Pérut, je suis professeur de français à Newton British Academy Barwa au Qatar.

I will use this VLE, our school virtual learning platform to communicate with you what we are learning in Y6 French class and keep you updated on a weekly basis on lessons, homework and assessment.

Year 6 French Curriculum Term 3

Topic: "les vêtements"

Dear parents, guardians and students,

Y6 children will develop the following skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing sentences in French.

By the end of this term 3, children will be able to…

identify clothes.
say what clothes they wear for different occasions (home, school, weekend, sportswear).
describe people's clothes using adjectives of colour.

Term 3 Y6 French Weekly updates:

Sunday 11th June to Thursday 13th June 2019 French End of Term 3 Exam

Y6 children will revise the topic of "Clothes and colours": les vêtements et les couleurs

Warning: for this unit, Y6 children must bring their colours (pencils, feltips) in class for the exam.

Y6 children must revise their End of Term 3 Exam.

Y6 French End of Term 3 Examinations will take place in the classroom on

Wednesday 12th June 2019: children must bring colours (pencils or feltips) for the exam

Year 6 Red = lesson 1
Year 6 Blue = lesson 2
Year 6 Purple = lesson 3
Year 6 Yellow = lesson 6
Year 6 Green = lesson 7
The End of Term 3 exams will include listening, reading comprehension and writing about clothes & colours. Children should be able to describe what people wear (clothes/ shoes/ accessories with the appropriate colours.)
Children were given their class booklet and revision pack to take home the week of 19th-23rd May. You can find the resources here on the VLE.

In this Unit "La mode, les vêtements = fashion and clothes",

Y6 children will learn:

to describe people: what clothes they wear.
to use adequately colour adjectives.
to say what people wear for different occasions (e.g. at home, at school, at work, for doing sport etc.)

Y6 French Homework

Start preparing your End of Term 3 exam by revising and consolidating your knowledge of clothes and colours.

Review page 8 in the revision pack, agreement between colours and clothes.

Write the sentences with the correct ending.

Je porte un tee-shirt rouge (correct answer = I wear a red t-shirt).
Je porte une jupe vert (wrong answer, add 'e' at the end of the colour to agree with the skirt that is feminine) = je porte une jupe verte.
Je porte des sandales marrons (wrong answer, colour marron for brown never changes) = je porte des sandales marron.
