Advantages:
Reduced labor cost.
Thermally efficient than aluminium, steel, or concrete.
Made of timber, the only truly renewable building resource.
Low-tech manufacturing process reduces emissions and pollution.
Minimal environmental impact from installation.
Truss roofs are widely employed in buildings. Large spans, frequently more than 7 meters, are possible with them. Trusses are built specifically for the structure they will be covering.
The size of the wood used in a truss is determined by the slope and span of the roof for which it is being built. The members used in the roof pictured above have a 30-degree slope and span 6 meters, thus they are 75mm x 32mm.
The trusses' members are butted together and secured with Gang Nail Plates.
