The map shows the details of the flood risk zones in the Sheffield city. The Blue marked area is the exact location of the proposed site. It shows that the site directly comes under the flood zone and is at the edge of river as well. Show the risk at the time of flooding will be high.
The risks include
Flooding of the entire basement car park area
Partial Flooding of the ground floor area
Flood Mitigation Measures
The basement is enclosed by concrete pile retaining walls and provided with additional reinforced shotcrete face wall to provide additional aspects for watertight.
The only access for the flood water entry will be the exit and entry points of the basement. These areas can be protected by providing additional flood barriers along with the basement hydraulic gates
From the overall height of basement 2m is raised above the ground level. It makes the ground floor level 2m elevated from the Ground surface. Reducing the flood water intrusion
In addition the accessible points at the ground floor level can be provided with additional flood barriers if required
