Substructure is defined as the structural components of a building which lie beneath the ground level of a building.
Major sub structural components of the proposed buildings include: retaining walls, foundation and basement
CONDITION OF EXISTING BUILDING
Surrounded by adjoining structure and water bodies on the boundary sides, the site becomes necessary to retain the structures surrounding the boundary.
The existing boundary wall lies:
Directly in line with the riverbed, so it becomes mandatory to retain the boundary wall on the north side.
The public road on the south side
The courtyard of the adjacent dwelling on the East side
The courtyard of the proposed building as it includes a culvert on the west side.
Demolishing the boundary wall and the courtyard entirely will not be economical as they are critical structure. Therefore, the best option is to leave the wall as it is and work on the top layer like some pavement works in that area, which is considered to be time-saving and economical.
