Lady Mountaineers beat Lady Eagles at Joplin tournament

Dec. 9, the Lady Mountaineers traveled to Joplin to compete at the Joplin Lady Eagle Classic tournament.


Ending the first half, the ladies carried a final score of 33-12, with Mountaineers taking the lead.


“Mt. Vernon holds Joplin to 1 point after the first quarter,” Mt. Vernon R5 Schools tweeted on Dec. 9.


After beating Joplin 54-12, the girls returned to Joplin to compete against Leavenworth Dec. 11.


By the end of the game, the girls remained undefeated at the 2020 Lady Eagle Classic.


Winning 54-46, the girls turned around and played Carl Junction in the championship game.


Finally, the girls were able to take a first-place plaque home.
