The Mount Vernon girls basketball team drove the ball down the court during the first quarter on January 4, ending the first quarter 10-12, with Hollister taking the lead.

Falling behind in the first half with 22-18 at halftime, the girls strived harder to come back and take the win.

With heads held high, the girls didn't give up. Five minutes remaining in the game, Reagan Boswell made a hit or miss shot bringing the girls to 37-30, now leading the game.

Forcing a jump ball, senior Lacey Stokes comes in hot with only 1:07 left in the game, bringing the score up to 39-36. Stokes then made two more unbelievable shots with only 20 seconds to play.

Ending the game with tight 43-40 finish, the girls basketball team celebrated the Big 8 East Victory over the Lady Tigers.

Overall, Boswell scored 7 points and Ellie Johnston added an additional five. Stokes scored 10 points during the first quarter and added 14 more points towards the end of the game.
