Business Review: Check out Vanity Pawz Pet Salon

Want to pamper and treat your pet with a little make-over? Check out the new pet salon that just opened last month called Vanity Pawz Pet Salon, located on 1779 Grant Ave. in Springfield. You can call now for an appointment using the number 417-839-9030.

Owner Alicia Jones, who has been grooming for over nine years, is happy to finally be her own boss and give the customers and their pets the best quality service with the best possible looks!

“I offer many speciality services from hair dye, nail polish, Asian fusion style cuts, creative grooming, speciality breed cuts, and so much more,” Jones says as a plug for her business. It should be mentioned that prices are fair as well. The price depends on the kind of breed.

Not only does this woman clearly have talent, but her talent has been recognized recently by a scout who works for an HBO show called “Haute Dog." Jones has already had a virtual interview that will hopefully get her on the show!

Jones says, “I’m feeling so excited about my chance of being on TV. Doing grooming competitions has always been a dream of mine. So to be found for a show like this would be a dream come true. It has really been an exciting and also nerve wracking experience”

And if being recognized like this doesn’t convince you enough, I have had first-hand experience of the pure joy people feel when they see their pet after a good grooming. I’ve heard many times from different people saying how no other groomer has made their dog look so good, and they love to express how they will definitely be coming back. Won’t take my word for it? If you look up the reviews, every single review has a five-star rating!

What the future will hold for Jones, who knows? But she has a few ideas, “Future plans for my shop would be to expand so I could do some boarding. Also I would love to get a mobile grooming van connected with my company and have a mobile groomer available for those in need...Also definitely enter more grooming competitions and perfect my craft.”

Precautions to stay safe during 2020 holiday season

With the 2020 holiday season here, many concerns have developed around the possible issue regarding safety this year. The constant reminder of the pandemic that has taken over this year has become an annoying mantra to many: “Put on a mask and stay six feet away from others.” The reminders are starting to sound like a broken record.

However, with family gatherings being a American tradition during the holidays, it is even more important to remember these precautions. A CDC article expresses concerns about large gatherings: “Gatherings with family and friends who do not live with you can increase the chances of getting or spreading COVID-19 or the flu.”

It is important this year to limit the number of people you are visiting in order to not only protect yourself, but also your family. Travel is also another problem during this year’s pandemic.

According to the CDC, “Airports, bus stations, train stations, public transport, gas stations, and rest stops are all places travelers can be exposed to the virus in the air and on surfaces.” Officials recommend reduction in traveling as much as possible this year.

The basic precautions that have been used all year are also important to keep in mind during family gatherings. The CDC says “Gatherings with more safety measures in place, such as mask wearing, social distancing, and hand-washing, pose less risk than gatherings where fewer or no preventive measures are being implemented.” By wearing a simple mask and washing your hands, you could be protecting your loved ones.

Overall this year could be very different when it comes to normal customs. Family gathering should be limited to households members only, traveling should be limited or completely avoided, and even though we’ve all been told this countless times, wear a mask and protect the ones around you.
