The K and 3-4 buddies made decorations for the Harvest Market parade. They created banners and signs for UCS students to hold during the parade. Please read the PTO Meetings + Events section in the Bobcat Den for more information about the parade. There is also a notice in the home/school folder with parade information.
My class is loving buddy time! We are hoping to meet with Mrs. Bernier's 3-4 class every Friday to do outdoor learning and community building activities.

Learning Highlights from the Week
We counted objects in the counting jar and recorded totals. We sorted objects into different groups and looked at similar attributes. The children explored with pattern blocks, attribute blocks, geoblocks, snap cubes, buttons, monkeys, and colored tiles. We continued to show numbers on our fingers between 0-10. We even tried showing totals in different ways (5 as one hand or 4+1 or 2+3). We also answered some data questions and looked at the information we collected.
We brainstormed classroom expectations to follow each day. We all agreed that everyone should:
be safe and kind
take care of things
follow the group plan
have fun!
We also shared what makes us unique and special. We discussed how we can learn from one another in our classroom community.
The kindergarten friends listened to stories, made predictions, and shared ideas during read alouds. They are learning how to clap syllables in words, count words in sentences, and isolate beginning and ending sounds. We explored a few letters (m, s, t, and a) and noticed what our mouths do when making these letter sounds. We are organizing the letters on our sound wall to help us remember how we say them.
The children continued to build good writing habits. They made self-portraits and drew pictures of their favorite things. This week they practiced:
making a mental picture of topics
drawing clear pictures with shapes and lines
staying focused on an idea and adding more on the page
holding the pencil correctly
Reminders
Please help your child remember to pack library books each week so new ones can be checked out.
