Follow General Trauma Protocol.
Mandatory interventions:
a. Oxygen
b. IV access (preferably 2)
c. Cardiac monitoring
Observe for the following signs or symptoms of shock:
a. Altered mental status
b. HR > 100 bpm or < 50 bpm
c. MAP < 65 mm Hg
d. Cool, clammy skin
e. Feelings of “impending doom”
If signs and symptoms of shock due to hemorrhage are present:
a. Infuse Isotonic Solution (NS or LR) 0.9% NORMAL SALINE at a wide-open rate.
b. Follow TRANEXAMIC ACID (TXA) protocol.
Notify medical facility as soon as possible.
