Vape Detectors

The CDC has shared that nicotine, found in vapes and other e-cigarette devices, is harmful to the adolescent brain. Using vapes can negatively impact the physical and mental well being of adolescents. As a result of research and best practices, MCPS started a vape detector pilot program during the 2022-2023 school year.

In Spring of 2023, QOHS had Vape Detectors installed in bathrooms throughout our school. These detection devices will alter staff through text and/or email when it identifies smoke or vape fumes.

E-cigarettes are prohibited on school grounds. When found, they are treated like tobacco and cigarettes.

Consequences can range from tobacco education classes to school suspension.

Please do not tamper with the white and gray vape detectors devices found on the ceiling of bathroom stalls throughout our school.
