Advanced & Honors Level Classes

Quince Orchard High School strives to offer the highest academic challenge appropriate to each student; therefore, all students are urged to enroll in and to successfully complete Honors and Advanced Placement courses.  These courses are provided to offer students opportunities to stretch themselves to learn and achieve at the level that post-high school college and work experiences will require.  Honors classes are offered in grades 9-12 in English, world languages, mathematics, science, social studies, and health.  The required work covers material in greater depth and stimulates higher level critical thinking and problem solving.  Students are expected to work independently and to undertake research and writing projects of a rigorous and sophisticated nature.  Teacher support is provided by appointment with the teacher during lunch and/or after school.  Advanced Placement courses are provided in English, world languages, mathematics, science, social studies, the arts, and technology.  These are courses for which an Educational Testing Service Advanced Placement Test is administered in the spring of the year.  A qualifying score on an Advanced Placement Test gives the student college credit or Advanced Placement standing in the subject in many colleges and universities.  All students enrolled in AP courses are required to take the AP exam which accompanies the course.
