REPORT CARDS/ INTERIM PROGRESS REPORTS

The school year is 36 weeks long and is divided into two semesters.  Report cards are issued every 9 weeks and distributed at school in November, late January, and March.  The final report card for the year is mailed home from the MCPS central office in late June.  For each semester the student earns .5 credit for each class in which the student earns a passing grade of D or better.  Electronic interims are available to Parents/Caregivers/Guardians via ParentVUE approximately halfway through the marking period. Written interim reports are mailed to Parents/Caregivers/Guardians only if they do not have an activated ParentVUE Account.  Questions related to students’ grades or progress reports are best initiated with the teacher or counselor.

CREDIT/ NO CREDIT

In courses other than those required for graduation, students have a limited option to be evaluated on a Credit/ No Credit basis instead of by standard letter grades.  Students may only be granted this option with the approval of the school administration. Students may exercise this option only once in grade nine, once in grade ten, twice in grade eleven, and twice in grade twelve.  Decisions to take a class for CR instead of a letter grade must be made during the first five weeks of the course, and this decision is considered final by the 25th class day.
