February Leaders of the Month

On Thursday March 14 we had the opportunity to celebrate our February Student Leaders of the Month. At the end of each month our teachers choose two students from each team to represent their team as Leaders of the Month. A big congratulations to our Leaders of the Month and for all they bring to our MJS ONE Community on a daily basis. Thank you to these students for being great role models within our building.

You can view more information about our February Leaders of the Month by clicking this link or the Leaders of the Month link at the top of this website.

Pi Day at MJS

MJS had a great day on Thursday celebrating Pi Day! In addition to hosting various classroom lessons that connected to Pi, our 7th grade team hosted a "Pi" contest. Students had the chance to purchase tickets during the week to get a chance to "Pi" one of their teachers. During the last period of the day, the 7th grade came together in the cafeteria to watch the main event! Everyone had a blast! Thank you to our two 7th grade math teachers, Mrs. McPeek and Mrs. Hatzi for organizing the event.

Students vs. Faculty Basketball Game

On Thursday Night, we hosted our Students vs. Faculty Basketball game. This has been a long time tradition at MJS and everyone was excited for the event. It turned out to be a close game but the students squeaked out a 49-46 victory. A great event to bring our community together! Thank you to Ms. Siso and Ms. Kolinchak for organizing the event and thank to you our faculty and students who participated!

Shrek The Musical Jr. at MJS

Once upon a time, there lived an ogre in the little town of Madison ready to show off all his fairytale friends onstage in Shrek the Musical Jr. at Madison Junior School!! Come out and support the entire cast and crew this Friday at 7 PM, Saturday at 2 PM and 7 PM, and Sunday at 2 PM! Tickets are $12 dollars for adults and $10 dollars for students!

Snapshots from MJS

On Wednesday March 14th the owner of Sugarlips came to meet with our Culture Club! This was connected to women’s history month since Sugarlips is a local female-owned small business. Students had a great time learning about the business and enjoying some donuts!

This week, Italian Novice Mid students learned to describe places in Italian cities and continued working with the verb "to go." They had the opportunity to take a virtual tour in class of a city in Italy. The destination was Siena, in Tuscany.

Important Information

Technology Reminder about Student Chromebook Usage

In Madison, we utilize a 1:1 Chromebook model where all students (grades 6-12) receive a district owned Chromebook to utilize during the school day and at home. While there is no cost for the use of the Chromebook, it is important that Chromebooks be maintained and handled in a responsible way. As we continue to move through the school year, we wanted to utilize this time as a reminder for our students and families about the importance of handling Chromebooks with care to prevent damage to the device. A message was shared over the PA on Friday with our students as a reminder. The district has expectations and protocols that are listed on the district website that we continue to follow at the building level.

We would like to highlight the specific section regarding lost and damaged chromebooks as a reminder to all parents and guardians:

In the event a Chromebook, case, or charger is lost or damaged beyond repair, parents/guardians are responsible for paying the cost of replacement equipment.

Costs:

Note: Final assessment of damage and fines is determined by the Technology Department.

Students are also responsible for the care of any loaners they use. Damage to loaners is subject to the same rules as permanently assigned Chromebooks.

In case of theft, parents/guardians are required to file a formal police report with the Madison Police Department.

Below are the direct links from the district website that pertains to Chromebook care and protocols followed for lost/damaged Chromebooks.

Thank you for your assistance in helping to remind our students about maintaining and handling our Chromebooks in a responsible and safe way.
