MJS Weekly Reflection

December 4 - December 8

Another exciting week at MJS! The highlights from the week include our TREP$ Marketplace and Scholastic Book Fair. These were opportunities where our community came together to celebrate the love of reading and entrepreneurship. Our students get involved in many activities throughout the school year, which provides awesome opportunities to learn and grow outside of the classroom.

TREP$ Marketplace

Our TREP$ Marketplace was held on Wednesday in the MJS Gym and it was a great success! TREP$, short for enTREPreneur$, is a project-based learning program that teaches kids in grades middle school how to start their own businesses. Over the past month our students learned various lessons and applied them as they built their business plans. The whole school community came out to enjoy the TREP$ Marketplace, where our young entrepreneurs launched their businesses together. A big thank you to our TREP$ advisor, Ms. Siso. for her guidance and leadership in providing this great opportunity for our students and community.

Peer Leader 6th Grade Outreach

Our 8th Grade Peer Leaders had their first 6th grade outreach on Wednesday. The lesson that our Peer Leaders prepared for our 6th graders focused on Self and Social Awareness with Perspective. The goal was to help our students understand other people’s thought and emotions. Our Peer Leaders did an awesome job and everyone had a great time!

Toys for Tots at MJS

I am so proud of our MJS community and their involvement in our Toys for Tots community service project that we kicked off at our recent Veterans Day Celebration. As of today MJS has collected 641 unwrapped toys and we still have one more week left. Thank you to everyone who has been able to donate unwrapped toys for this special cause. The Week Ahead

We are excited to Waltz into Winter 2023 with our upcoming Spirit Weeks. We have two weeks filled with spirit days to continue to bring our community closer together. Below you will find an overview. This year we continue to engage with our students to hear their voice and what they want to see at MJS. Our student council executive board brought the TikTok trend idea of "Anything But a Backpack," which is a day where students and staff bring anything but a backpack to school to carry their stuff. I am happy to share that we will be hosting this day as part of our Spirit Weeks on December 22nd. More information to follow but I know our students are excited for this day! We are also looking forward to our Orchestra and Chorus concerts, which will be held this Thursday evening.

Lost and Found

Over the past 3 months our lost and found table has gathered many items. A big thank you to our office secretary, Ms. Kelly for taking the time to organize these items so we can get them back to their owners. Below are pictures of all the items we currently have in our lost and found. If you notice a item that belongs to your child please have them go to the office during their cycle period and check in with Ms. Kelly before picking up their item.
