MJS Weekly Reflection

February 12 - February 16

Another great week at MJS! This edition of our Weekly Reflection focuses on two community outreach projects hosted by our Peer Leaders and Student Council. It is wonderful to see our students taking a lead with important community outreach projects. A big thank you to our Peer Leaders and Student Council Advisors for the support and guidance they have given their groups this year. As the Acting Principal, I am proud to see our school involved in activities that help to support others outside of our MJS community. We are all ONE helping each other learn and grow.

Souper Bowl Food Drive

A big thank you to all of those who were able to send in a boxed or canned food item for our Souper Bowl Food Drive. In two weeks we were able to collect 843 items, which surpassed our goal of 750! I am super proud of our MJS ONE community! We will be working next week to get all of these items delivered to the Morris County Interfaith Food Pantry. Thank you to our Peer Leaders for their work in coordinating this Community Outreach Project and for assisting in the collection of items.

STUCO Hot Chocolate Fundraiser

The MJS Student Council organized a hot chocolate fundraiser after school this week. The fundraiser was in support of a Madison police officer who tragically lost his home and loved ones in a devastating fire. Thank you to our Student Council for putting this together and thank you to all of those who were able to purchase some hot chocolate!

Additional Information

We are super excited for a new morning program called Morning Hoops to start up at the end of the month. The Morning Hoops Program will provide middle school students with an engaging basketball program before the school day begins. This initiative will focus on physical activity, teamwork, and providing a positive start to the day. Our goal is to support a climate and culture that fosters a strong school community. A permission slip will be required for students to attend this program. Depending on the interest, we may have to limit the number of students. If you child is interested in attending, please complete this permission slip.

We will be collecting permission slips until February 23rd. A confirmation email will go out to all registered families after the collection window closes. Our anticipated start date is Tuesday February 27th.

Lost and Found

Our lost and found continues to gather many items. A big thank you to our office secretary, Ms. Kelly for taking the time to continue to organize these items so we can get them back to their owners. Below are pictures of all the items we currently have in our lost and found. If you notice a item that belongs to your child please have them go to the office during their cycle period and check in with Ms. Kelly before picking up their item. Thank you for your assistance in getting these items back to their owners.
