Congratulations to our MJS Boys Basketball Team with their nail-biting 59-57 victory in the semi-finals of the Morris County tournament on Wednesday against Pequannock. Madison will play Denville in the Finals today (Saturday) at 2:00pm at Wharton Middle School. Let's Go Dodgers!!
Parent/Guardian Social Media Workshop
Thank you all that were able to attend our parent/guardian workshop at MJS on Wednesday that focused on the topic of The Impact of Screens and Social Media. Our presenter, Lauren Muriello, shared important information about the impact of screens and social media as well as provided helpful tips for families to work with their children on decreasing the time spent on devices. A big thank you to Project Community Pride of the Madison Area YMCA for sponsoring this workshop.
Student Council Leadership Retreat
On Thursday MJS student council members attended a student leadership conference at MHS along with several other high schools. Coach Jim Stroker was the guest speaker who stressed the characteristics of a good leader. They also met in small groups with the other students. Four of our 7th grade students got up and spoke and impressed their follow students, faculty & Coach Stroker!
Check out the pictures below along with videos of our 7th grade students sharing what they believe it means to be a good leader.
School Wide Winter Dance
With over 350 students attending, our School Wide Winter Dance was a great success!! Students got to enjoy dancing, photo booths, inflatable sports games, airbrush tattoos, pizza and snacks! As the acting principal of MJS, I am proud of our students and how everyone participated at this event in a safe and respectful way. I believe these types of events are super important for our students as they continue to learn and grow at MJS.
A big thank you to Ms. Siso and Ms. Kolinchak for overseeing the planning and organization of the event along with all of our chaperones who came out to support our students. Thank you also to our PTO and all those involved in donating snacks/water for the event. It was a memorable evening bringing our whole MJS community together!
Winter Pep Rally
On Friday, we brought our whole school community together for our Winter Pep Rally. We had the opportunity to recognize our Boys and Girls Volleyball teams who will be starting their season. We also had to opportunity to recognize our Boys Basketball team and provide school wide support for their upcoming game in the Morris County Tournament Finals. Our student body participated in various activities that provided fun competition for all to enjoy. A big thank you to Ms. Siso and Ms. Kolinchak for assisting in organizing this great event.
Our Peer Leaders introduced our second Community Outreach Project which will be a Souper Bowl Food Drive collecting cans and boxed goods for the Morris County Interfaith Food Pantry. As a community we set the goal for 750 items. If you are able, please send a can or boxed food item in with your child next week and they can drop it off to their homeroom. Click here to see the flyer for more information or view the flyer below.
