PE

In Module 5 and 6, the Yr 10 GCSE PE class took part in the Careers in Sport workshops with Charlton Athletic Community Trust. These sessions were in partnership with KMPF, Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) which aims to introduce young people to the many and varied career opportunities in sport.

The Yr 10 students took part in 4 workshops, 3 of which took place onsite at The Leigh Academy. In those sessions students were led by a Charlton coach who taught them practical elements to coaching such as the importance of a warm up, how to engage young children into sport and managing people. During these sessions, they also had the opportunity to work within a classroom environment to assimilate other jobs in sport such as advertising and marketing, media and business and finance.

For their final session, we went to Dartford Football Club where once again students had the opportunity to take part in practical sessions run by Sport lecturers from the University of Kent, Canterbury Christ Church and Charlton Athletic coaches, teachers and sports analysts. This was a fantastic event for our students and a real insight to the vast amount of jobs that are available in the sporting industry!
