Hopi food basket

The Hopi come from high desert where they live because there is little water in their area. The Hopi have always planted crops in ways that use every drop of rain. The Hopi farmers grow corn, squash and beans. Long ago men hunted animals such as antelope, deer and rabbit. Women gathered berries, nuts and seeds. The Hopi still make a rolled out flat bread called piiki out of blue corn flour. Corn is the most important food for the Hopi.
