Interesting Facts

The Coahuiltecans had a very interesting life. They lived inland from Galveston Bay to the Rio Grande. The Coahuiltecans lived in groups called bands. Each band had its own chief who was usually chosen because he had been successful in battle. Many of the Coahuiltecans traveled to Mexico and joined other Indian bands there. When a warrior was killed, his wife would tear the hair from the crown of her head, and she would then cut the rest of her hair short. She would roll around in the dust and stab herself with a flint knife. Men would also stab themselves but with sharp stones if some of their relatives had died, however the men did not tear out their hair. These are some very interesting facts about the Coahuiltecans!!!
