Comanche Food

By: Abigail

The Comanche had a big buffalo hunt every year. After the big buffalo hunt they used all of the buffalo parts for a lot of things. They roasted or boiled some of the meat. The Comanche cut the rest of the meat into thin strips and let it sit out in the sun to dry. Some of the dried meat they mashed with buffalo fat and berries to make a food called Inapu. Besides buffalo meat they ate deer, black bear, antelope and elk. They trapped wolves and foxes for fur. Women gathered nuts and berries. The Comanche did not grow crops because they were on the move a lot following the buffalo.

The Comanche used bows and arrows to hunt buffalo.
