O / Apache Weapons

By: Ben

The bow and arrow were a principal weapon for the Apaches. A warrior spent most of his time making arrows. When he went out to hunt he had about forty arrows in his quiver. Bow strings were usually made of deer sinew that was soaked in water. The sinew was peeled into bow string. War clubs were also used by the Apaches. A round rock the size of the warrior's fist was put inside a rawhide pouch. This was attached to a wooden handle covered with deer skin. Knives were also used by the Apaches in battle and during a buffalo hunt. They were made of flint and vary crudely done. All Apache tools were made of natural materials. Tools for digging were usually made from buffalo bones, wood, or antlers.
