Comanche Shelter!

The Comanches shelter: The Comanche teepee is about 13 feet high. The chief's teepee was as high as 25 feet. They used 16 to 18 poles for the chiefs. The doors were made out of thick dead bear. The Comanches lived in cone shaped teepees. They set up their teepees next to water and wood. They made their teepees out of wood, bark and sticks. Moving the teepee and stuff like that was the responsibility of the women. The Comanches were able to set up and take down a teepee in 3 to 4 minutes. There was a fire pit in the middle of the teepee for cooking and warmth. An opening at the top of the teepee allowed the smoke to escape. The Comanches decorated the outside of the teepee with pictographs representing their life.
