Ceramics I

This introductory course explores clay as a creative medium through hand-building techniques like pinch, coil, and slab. Students study functional and decorative works from various cultures while learning glazing and surface design to create original ceramic pieces.

Ceramics II

This intermediate course offers students opportunities to refine methods in clay hand-building techniques, glazing, and surface decoration. Ceramic pieces from various world cultures are introduced and analyzed.

Ceramics III

This advanced course offers students opportunities to refine methods in clay hand-building techniques, glazing, and surface decoration. Ceramic pieces from various world cultures are introduced and analyzed.

Ceramics I-III

This ceramics course includes many sculptural and functional form making activities with clay. Our goal is to connect your own idea to your art piece, to create applying the techniques you learn, and self-evaluate the piece when they come out of the kiln.

Ceramics can be your lifelong hobby as well as your career if you wanna go to art college, open your own craft business, or teach Keiki. With a lot of hands-on work, you will also have a great sense of building, constructing, planning which is a very important skill set in many careers.
