Designed for students who have a strong foundation in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and precalculus, AP Calculus AB is a year-long, college-level mathematics course that prepares students for advanced study in mathematics, science, engineering, and other STEM-related fields.
Students develop an understanding of the major concepts of calculus, including limits, derivatives, antiderivatives, and definite integrals. They learn how these concepts can be used to analyze functions, describe rates of change, determine accumulated change, and solve problems involving geometric, physical, and real-world situations.
Throughout the course, students work with problems presented graphically, numerically, algebraically, and verbally, using technology when appropriate to explore relationships and support mathematical reasoning. The course follows the expectations of the College Board AP Calculus AB curriculum and prepares students to take the AP Calculus AB exam in the spring.
