Digital Design

Kealakehe High School’s Digital Design program gives students hands-on experience creating professional visual media while building skills for college, careers, and creative industries. Students begin with Foundations of Creative Media, then progress through Digital Design 1 and Digital Design 2, with an optional Digital Design Work-Based Learning capstone.

Throughout the program, students use digital photography and industry-standard design software such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to create photographs, illustrations, page layouts, printed products, and portfolio pieces. As students advance, they move into more complex work involving web design, 3D modeling, animation, advanced editing, and multimedia production.

At Kealakehe, the program is project-based, interactive, career-oriented, and hands-on. Students build a professional portfolio while developing creativity, problem-solving, communication, and technical design skills. Students who continue into the optional Work-Based Learning course can apply those skills in authentic workplace settings and explore careers in graphic design, photography, web development, animation, multimedia, and digital marketing.
