Marine Science is a year-long laboratory course that explores how ocean systems work and how marine organisms interact with their environment. Students study topics such as ocean processes, marine ecosystems, adaptations, biodiversity, and the connections between living and nonliving parts of the ocean.
With Hawaiʻi as a natural setting for marine science, students connect course concepts to the Pacific Ocean and local marine environments while developing scientific observation, investigation, and data-analysis skills.
