Parents visiting classrooms

There may be occasions when parents would like to visit their child’s classroom, or may request to look at their child’s work/books. If a parent would like to do this, then it is essential that an arrangement is made with the class teacher in advance. It is suggested that a visit of 30 minutes maximum is appropriate, unless parents are volunteering to help the class teacher in a specific activity. It is requested that parents do not wait outside of classrooms or look through classroom windows during the school day as this can be somewhat distracting for the students and teacher. When parents assist in the classroom, the teacher remains in charge of the lesson and the parents are requested to not interrupt the flow of the learning taking place. For parents of children in the Early Years Centre (EYC), it is fine to remain in the classroom for the first 15 minutes of the day to help your child settle.
