Configuring A Facial Profile for Facial Terminal Access
Learn how to setup a face image and apply it for door access with the facial terminals.
First you will need to access the Web Client for the HikCentral Server.
Just head to 98.186.18.233:85
(HikCentral is best configured on Windows, on macOS you will be told if something is not supported on MAC in the browser. If you encounter this you will need to use a Windows machine.)
This will take you to a page that looks like this:
Go ahead and log in with your credentials, if you do not have credentials please open a ticket with IT by requesting access vis the request form.
Once you are logged in the page will look something like this:
This page can be customized to your preferences, this view is centered around access control for this account.
Access the person you want to add a picture to.
Click on the menu icon in the top left of the web client and then choose person from the menu.
Once you are on the Person page we can find the person we want to apply a face picture to.
When searching for a person there are a few things to consider:
You can look for the person by choosing the department on the left hand side of the page.
You can search for the person by entering their name in the "Full Name" field.
If searching by name you will want to ensure that "Include Sub-Group" is selected. If this is not checked then it will only search within the currently highlighted group on the left hand department list.
If the search is not finding them always make sure to double check if the "Include Sub-Group" box is checked. Another thing to consider is that the names are all legal names, so if searching for a "nickname" it will likely not find it.
Once you have a person pulled up to add the face picture to the person:
There are 3 options for uploading the images for a person.
From Device - This will let you upload from the Facial Terminals or the Enrollment Station at the guard desk.
Take a Picture - This will allow you to take a picture using a webcam on a Windows laptop or desktop. (NOTE: This does not work on macOS and can only be done in Windows.) From what we have noticed this option is one we would recommend as a last resort as it often does not work as intended due to the background app that has to be running on Windows. It is recommend using the terminals or the enrollment station to upload photos. (I am working with HikCentral on this issue and will update if we are able to resolve it.)
EASIEST and BEST OPTION: Upload Picture - If we have a headshot image for the person we can also use this.
To use this option, it must be a current image that matches the person's current look.
Things like weight changes to the face, hair, tattoos will require a updated image.
If we have a clean headshot image this is a great option and would allow for better photos to be used. Taking them from a webcam or the facial terminals yields photos that most would never want in the wild.
Something to consider with using the facial terminals is that the height of the terminals was set to ensure all statures will work once the face is enrolled. If someone has a shorter stature then you will want to use an image from the webcam/uploaded picture or the enrollment station at the guard desk.
When you choose "From Device" you and the person you want to enroll will need to be at the terminal you are using to enroll the face picture on. Once you select the device and click capture on the web you will see this image.
At this point there will be instructions on the facial terminal. The person enrolling will need to be centered perfectly. Once the image is captured you will be able to verify if you need to recapture the image as you need to be within the silhouette for the image that you will see on your laptop. If the person is not centered within the silhouette capture the image until they are perfectly centered.
Important Things to Do when Capturing the Image
Do not wear a mask for the initial image. Once the image is captured and the access control has been pushed out then it will unlock with a mask on.
No hats unless they always wear one, then it will be more accurate for that person when they go to enter the door.
