The penultimate day of the course began with warm-up activities like "Match-the-Mottos", where we reflected on inspiring quotes in education. We then participated in a simulated mentoring session, following all key stages—from establishing trust to setting new goals and final reflection.
Mentoring skills were further developed through "Mentors Needed", where we took on the roles of mentor and mentee to work on real or imagined cases. This activity reinforced active listening, empathy, and powerful questioning as essential tools for professional growth.
A key focus of the day was creating a school culture based on support, inspired by Benjamin Zander’s positive approach to student potential. We discussed strategies for fostering inclusive and trusting educational environments, emphasizing recognition, collaboration, and creativity.
Finally, we dedicated time to future project planning, designing initiatives to implement positive changes in our schools. Working with "critical friends," we refined our ideas and identified potential collaborators.
The course ended on an emotional and celebratory note. Through "The Famous Person Game", we highlighted participants’ strengths and contributions. We also reviewed the week’s achievements, including a deeper understanding of coaching and mentoring roles, insights into educational change, and enhanced communication and leadership skills.
