You will need- 2 players, 2 dice and 2 pencils/crayons in different colours. Both players choose a colour and take it in turns to throw both dice. You will need to add the total spots on both dice and colour a leaf with a corresponding number. The game is over when all leaves are coloured and the winner is the player with the most coloured leaves!

As you can see from the above picture of the School yard, there is a repeating colour pattern on the fence, the roof of the Wendy house and on the floor of the yard. Your task is to complete a repeating pattern in practical terms or on a piece of paper using coloured pencils etc. It's possible to use Duplo/Lego, counters, natural resources (such as the leaves/twigs below), lollipop sticks or even coloured sweets such as Smarties or M&M's! You choose! It's possible also to vary the type of pattern from a simple AB/AB/AB pattern to ABBA/ABBA or even AABC/AABC as in the Duplo example below.

This is a simple experiment which teaches us that some objects will float whilst others will sink and that the weight of an object can change when it's in water. You will need:-

A midwinter nature challenge
12 Days Wild is our mini Christmas challenge, encouraging you to do one wild thing a day from the 25th December to the 5th January.
