Parents: Today's focus task is a German virtual 'escape room'. Miss Francis has really gone for it today!
Your child will need to complete four challenges in order to 'escape' from the forest. Some of these challenges are not graded, but have been provided in order to practise their German and to prepare them for the focus task within the escape room, which is a listening comprehension exercise. At some points in the exercise, pupils need to input a password in order to get to the next stage.

The focus task itself is a video, which contains three short texts in German. Your child can play and pause the video as often as they like, and should complete the Google Form, with a maximum mark of 15 points. Having answered a variety of questions based on the video and submitted the Google Form, pupils can then continue to try to 'escape', but the focus task itself will have already been completed.

It is vital that pupils submit the Google Form based on the video, as this is the graded part of the task.

Once they complete the escape room, they should write their name on the Google Form provided as evidence that they have 'defeated' the escape room!

In order for everything to run smoothly, it would be best to be in the Google Chrome browser from the beginning.

Pupils will complete an online quiz after reading the resource. Complex terms have been translated in the quiz. Pupils are encouraged to use the “Geirfa” at the end of the resource to help with any unfamiliar terms and to use a dictionary if further assistance is needed with vocabulary. Three times a week, pupils will have a maths quiz in Google Forms, in their Google Classroom. The other two days they will practise their times tables.

The Google Forms have been set up by the Maths Department, complete with feedback and answers, so that pupils can have instant feedback within Google Classroom.

Today, as our third stop, we will visit Aberteifi (Cardigan), the town in Ceredigion, which was the location of the first ever Eisteddfod. Aberteifi Castle has been restored in recent years - pupils can watch a timelapse film of the building work, as well as hear about the castle and look at the coastal scenery.
