Module 1
Lunchtimes
At lunchtime, we learnt the rules and routines for the dinner hall. We need to line up and wait our turn, collect our tray and dinner. We then visit the salad bar, before sitting down. We are encouraged to use our cutlery when eating and to try and cut up our food by ourselves. We then need to clear away our own tray, cups and plates. We have adapted really well!
DM Physical Development 4-5 Further develop the skills they need to manage the school day successfully: - lining up and queuing - mealtimes. Develop their small motor skills so that they can use a range of tools competently, safely and confidently. Suggested tools: scissors, knives, forks and spoons.
Lining up and getting ready.
Ensuring we use our manners when we get our dinner.
Visiting the salad bar.
Using our cutlery.
Exploring the outside area
We have enjoyed exploring the new outside area and all the physical opportunities we have out there.
DM Physical Development - Continue to develop their movement, balancing, riding (scooters, trikes and bikes) and ball skills. Match their developing physical skills to tasks and activities in the setting. For example, they decide whether to crawl, walk or run across a plank, depending on its length and width. Collaborate with others to manage large items, such as moving a long plank safely, carrying large hollow blocks
Ready, steady...GO!
Floor is lava!
House building.
Up and over!
PE lessons - Learning the rules and routines
We began our PE lessons by learning and practicing finding a space in the hall. We needed to make sure that we weren't too close to anyone else or the walls. This will make sure that we are safe when moving. We then played different games such as the jelly bean and traffic light game - making sure that we listened carefully to the instructions and move around without bumping.
DM - C&L - Rec - Understand how to listen carefully and why listening is important. Physical Development - Revise and refine the fundamental movement skills
Controlling our bodies and equipment
We have developed our control and coordination of our bodies using beanbags. We needed to explore different ways of travelling while balancing a beanbag. Some movements were tricker than others but we were risk takers! We then worked with a partner to throw and catch a beanbag.
DM - Physical Development - Develop the overall body strength, co-ordination, balance and agility needed to engage successfully with future physical education sessions and other physical disciplines.
Threading Pasta
We have developed our fine motor control by threading string and then wool through pasta tubes to create necklaces and bracelets.
DM - Physical Development - Reception - Develop their small motor skills so that they can use a range of tools competently, safely and confidently
Developing fine motor skills
We have explored the tweezers to move conkers from the tray to different bowls. We have also threaded the Autumn leaves.
DM - Physical Development - Reception - Develop their small motor skills so that they can use a range of tools competently, safely and confidently
"Sausage" "Pinch"
Dough Disco
Every day, we take part in Dough Disco. This is a fine motor activity designed to strengthen out fingers and hands to make us better writers.
DM - Physical Development - Develop their small motor skills so that they can use a range of tools competently, safely and confidently.
"Ball it"
Using our core body strength
We used our core body strength to see how far out we could place a cone, while our feet remained inside the hoop. We tried it in different ways, stretching ourselves but trying not to fall out of the hoop.
DM - Physical Development - Develop the overall body strength, co-ordination, balance and agility needed to engage successfully with future physical education sessions and other physical disciplines
Module 2
Travelling in different ways.
We have continued our work on developing our body control and coordination. This week we used the mats to work on and learnt how to transport them safely.
We travelled along the mats by striding, bounding, hopping, jumping and on our tiptoes.
Tunnels and Bridges
We also used our core body strength to make tunnels and bridges, ensuring we leave a gap between our bodies and the floor. We used different body parts to make them, then the challenge to make a big enough bridge for our partner to get underneath without knocking us over!
DM - Physical Development - Revise and refine the fundamental movement skills they have already acquired: - rolling - crawling - walking - jumping - running - hopping - skipping • Progress towards a more fluent style of moving, with developing control and grace. •
DM - Physical Development - Develop the overall body strength, co-ordination, balance and agility needed to engage successfully with future physical education sessions and other physical disciplines including gymnastics.
Dance - Rama and Sita
We used dance to recreate the story of Diwali - Rama and Sita. We created our movements as individuals and as part of a pair.
DM - EAD - • Watch and talk about dance and performance art, expressing their feelings and responses. Explore and engage in music making and dance, performing solo or in groups.
DM - Physical Development - Combine different movements with ease and fluency.
Getting the house ready - cleaning the floors and windows.
Seaching the woods, hunting for food.
Moving like the deer, tall and graceful.
Forest School
We started our first Forest School sessions. We have used our Gross Motor Skills to climb, jump, roll, run and dig whilst at Forest School.
DM - Physical Development - Develop the overall body strength, co-ordination, balance and agility.
We found a hill to roll down!
Being let free a little.
Digging!
Developing scissor control
Preparing lists for Santa is the perfect opportunity to practise our scissor control.
Physical Development- Rec = Develop their small motor skills so that they can use a range of tools competently, safely and confidently.
