Module 1
We have been exploring the different resources in our learning environments to produce a wide variety of creations.
We have been using: paint, pens, pencils, crayons, glitter, glue, scissors, cork boards, beads and strings and a variety of paper.

Portraits
We each created our own portrait to display in our classrooms.
DM - Draw with increasing complexity and detail. Use a comfortable grip with good control when holding pens and pencils. Show a preference for a dominant hand. Develop their small motor skills so that they can use a range of tools competently, safely and confidently.
Through our learning about families, we decided to make a lolly stick house for our family portraits to go into.

We have been developing our fine motor skills through the use of cotton buds to paint a picture.

We have explored the home corner, in particular dressing up. We then used these costumes to create characters and perform a show to our peers and adults.

Loose Parts in Autumn
We discovered a giant pumpkin in our outside area. We explored how heavy it was and the texture of the skin on the outside. After talking about how to use the different materials, we thought we could make a carriage for Cinderella. It even has an electic charger!

Autumn Printing
Using our knowledge of the different colours in Autumn, we used corks to print our Autumn trees.

Module 2
Vincent Van Gogh's Poppy Fields
As part of our work on Remembrance Day, we learnt about the artist Vincent Van Gogh. We explored some of his most famous art pieces, focusing on the painting called 'Poppy Fields' painted in 1890.
Using paint, we painted our own poppies. We needed to think about the coloours and the shapes we needed. We also used different media to make poppy pictures.

Diya lamps
As part of our inquiry into Diwali, we found out that diya lamps were an important part of the celebration. We used clay to make our own diya lamps - rolling and moulding the clay to make a pot to hold a candle. Once they were dry we painted them.

Module 3
Getting creative
As part of our inquiry into traditional tales, we have begun creating pictures of castles.

Using drama to express ourselves.
After exploring the story of The Magic Porridge Pot, we retold the story as a class, then acted out the different scenes in small groups.

The Enormous Turnip
We continued to develop our storytelling by acting out the story of The Enormous Turnip.

The Emperor's New Clothes
We used the story as inspiration for our own clothing designs. We added different media to make our own clothes for the Emperor.

The Witch's house - Hansel and Gretel
We made our own gingerbread houses using junk modelling. We got to use our new carboard saws which helped us to make the windows and doors. We added different confectionary to decorate the outside.

The Witch's house - Hansel and Gretel
We also used our den building materials outside to make the gingerbread house. We worked together as a team to build a cottage for the witch. We had to problem solve getting the tires in as they wouldn’t fit in at first.

Number Day - Wassily Kandinsky
As part of NSPCC Number Day, we explored shapes through art. We found out about the artist Wassily Kandinsky and his abstract art pieces. We looked at the colours he used in his work and the use of different lines and shapes. We also explored colour mixing.
We used his famous piece of work Squares And Concentric Circles as inspiration for our own paintings. We will then put them together to make one class piece of art work.

Leeds Castle Workshop
We took part in a story drama session called Sybil the Cygnet. We got to dress up and act out the story read by the Leeds Castle storyteller. EAD - • Develop storylines in their pretend play. CLL - Engage in story times.
Chinese New Year Dances
As part of our inquiry into Chinese New Year, we re-created some dragon dances. We watched videos and used them as inspiration for our own dances.

Chinese Lanterns
We used our cutting and joining skills to make our own Lunar New Year lamps. We know they are red as it is a lucky colour.

Module 4
Nature Journals at Forest School
We visited the teepee to start our nature journals. We used our observational skills to draw pictures of the flowers and plants that are common in springtime,

The Bog Baby.
Having listened to the story of The Bog Baby were then given the opportunity to make their own bog baby using clay and natural materials such as sticks, mud and leaves in Forest School
We needed to find the right habitat for their bog baby and hide him away.

Observational Art
As we continued our inquiry into life cycles, we focused on plants. We used different artistic skills to become painters and sculptors to create our pieces of art. We looked at Vincent Van Gogh's sunflower paintings and the inspiration that the Croatian artist Ana Tzarev takes from his work to create her own paintings and sculptures.

Module 5
Mrs Armitage on Wheels
We began our line of inquiry into how transport has evolved over the years. We focused on bikes and how they have changed. We have been looking at Mrs Armitage in drawing club and acted out and retold the story.

The Train Ride
We were excited to welcome a HUGE box into the classes. We decided to turn it into a train! We talked about what a locomotive looks like and drew and cut out the features. We then painted the train and carriage.

Lolly stick challenge
We were set a challenge to make a plane using lolly sticks. We needed to decide how we were going to join them and decorate them. Some of us even made a biplane!

Loose Parts
We are really enjoying using loose parts to create structures. We use the different resources in the classes to built together and modify and develop our creations as we go.

Pirate Inspiration
We really enjoyed our inquiry into boats and pirates. We have used this as inspiration for our creations - from building wooden ships in the builders yard, treasure maps and pirate hats!

Module 6
Australian Aboriginal Art
We have been learning that aboriginal art is a very early form of art where people conveyed their stories through symbols and icons in artwork. We then had a go at creating some aboriginal art ourselves.

EYFS - Hoo's Got Talent!
In our final week we were given the opportunity to take part in a talent competition. We could perform anything we liked - from football skills, to art to playing the recorder.
EAD - • Perform songs, rhymes, poems and stories with others, and (when appropriate) try to move in time with music.
