Module 1
Building houses
We have looked at different types of houses and talked about the features of houses such as how many doors, window, garages, drive ways. We used junk model materials to re-create our own home or a new home of our own design. We needed to think about how we were going to join pieces together and how we can create the features to make it a house.
DM - EAD 3-4 Explore different materials freely, to develop their ideas about how to use them and what to make. • Develop their own ideas and then decide which materials to use to express them. • Join different materials and explore different textures
EAD - Reception - Return to and build on their previous learning, refining ideas and developing their ability to represent them.
Module 2
Remembrance Day Poppy Display
We used hammers to attach plastic bottle poppies to the palet to create a poppy display as part of our Remembrance Day inquiry.
DM - Physical Development - Develop their small motor skills so that they can use a range of tools competently, safely and confidently.
Birthday Hats
As part of our inquiry into celebrations, we made party hats for our class teddy party. We used the stapler to join the pieces together to make a hat, then we decorated it.
DM - Physical Development - Develop their small motor skills so that they can use a range of tools competently, safely and confidently.
Decorating Biscuits
We decorated our own biscuits for the party. We needed to add the icing and select the toppings we wanted! Delicious!
Paper weaving
We have been learning about Scotland and St Andrew's day, looking at the tartan patterns. We got to explore a real Scottish kilt and sporran. We used our fine motor skills to create some beautiful patterns to make our own tartan patterns.
