Our Art focus in this module is improving our painting skills and knowledge. We began by learning about Piet Mondrian and his use of primary colours in his artwork. We then used this knowledge to create our own, 'Mondrian inspired' artworks.
In Weeks 2 and 3, we explored other artists such as Mark Rothko and his colour mixing also, Paul Klee's artwork and enjoyed learning how to make tints and a Klee inspired abstract portrait painting.
In Weeks 6 and 7, we learnt a lot about Delanuays balance of warm and cool colours in his artwork as well as Kandisky's abstract art and his famous circle painting. We loved their artwork and merged the two artists' influential techniques to create Kandinsky inspired circle paintings.
In Module 4 our Art focus was printing. We learned all about Orla Kiely. In Week 1, the children researched all about Orla Kiely, discovered her use of bold colours and repeating patterns.
We continued by designing and creating our own repeating patterns using styrofoam.
In Week 5, we printed our own Mother's Day cards in the style of Orla Kiely.
