Jigsaw - Challenges
In circle time we talked about what a challenge is, things that we find difficult and how that makes us feel. We then spoke about how we can overcome challenges.
DM 3-4 - Talk about their feelings using words like ‘happy’, ‘sad’, ‘angry’ or ‘worried’. - Understand gradually how others might be feeling.

Jigsaw - Never Giving Up
We thought about resilience and the fact that we need to keep on trying, even if something is difficult. We brainstormed as a class about the things we couldn't do but now can. We also thought about new things we want to learn how to do as we grow older.

With each traditional tale we explored, we found the moral of the story - what can we learn from them?

We thought about the different characters in the story and their characteristics - were they kind? Greedy? Astonished? We sorted the vocabulary words to the characters, giving our reasons why.

As part of our work on challenges, we thought about what we want to be when we are grown ups. We talked about the different jobs there are and which we might want to be.

Leeds Castle Visit
We went to Leeds Castle on a coach. We represented the school really well with our good behaviour and manners when meeting the castle staff.

Module 4
Jigsaw - Healthy me - We Like to Move it, Move it!
We have identified the changes to our bodies when we exercise in our PE lessons and when we are doing sports. We talked about the job our heart and why it beats faster when we exercise.

Jigsaw - Healthy Me! - Food Glorious Food!
We used The Hungry Caterpillar story to think about the types of food that is healthy for our bodies. We sorted the different foods the Hungry Caterpillar ate into foods we need to eat plenty of and those we need to eat less of.

Mother's Day
We talked about our mums and why they are special to us and tried to list all of the different things our mums do for us. We found out about the different ways people celebrate Mother's Day and made cards for our mums.

Jigsaw - Healthy Me! - Sweet Dreams
As part of our learning about keeping healthy, we talked about the importance of a good night sleep. We talked about our bedtime routines.

Jigsaw - Healthy Me! - Teeth Brushing
We continued our learning about keeping ourselves healthy by talking about our teeth brushing routines and the importance of brushing out teeth. We also know that it is important to visit the dentist regularly.

RE
We talked about the word 'Respect' and what it means. We answered the question - How can we show respect to others?

Jigsaw - My family and me!
We had the opportunity to share with our friends about our families and who we live with. We talked about how families may look different. We have developed our listening skills by sharing with the whole class what our partner told us about their family rather than just talk about our own. This meant we needed to listen carefully and take turns in conversation.

RE
We have been focussing on the idea of 'care'. We have answered the following questions:

How do I know I am cared for?

We have been exploring forming positive relationships with our peers. We have explored the feeling of being 'lonely' and how we can prevent a peer from feeling like this.

We have been exploring what makes a good friend and how we can be a good friend to others. We thought about how we can recognise how others might be feeling through their body language and facial expressions.

We have been exploring statements which are kind and unkind to say to others. We thought about how these statements would make us feel.

Module 6
Jigsaw - Fun and Fears
We have been talking about our upcoming move to Year 1. We have talked about what we are excited about but also what is worrying us. We know who to ask for help from if we are worried about the changes that are coming up. We did enjoy our transition days to Frog or Newt class and we really impressed our new teachers!

We have been talking about things we have enjoyed over our time in reception. We have made lots of new friends, been on adventures, learnt lots of new things and had fun!
